DAYS 1-4: TOKYO & HAKONE 
Hotels: Akasaka Excel Hotel Tokyu, Hakone Yumoto 
On arrival in the energetic city of Tokyo, transfer to your hotel, and meet your fellow travellers and Tour Leader (or local guide). See the iconic pedestrian crossing in front of Shibuya train station’s Hachiko exit. Continue to Tokyo’s most famous Shinto shrine – Meiji Jingu. Walk to nearby Harajuku, a trendy shopping precinct. Afterwards, enjoy a Taiko drumming class. Afterwards, enjoy a short boat cruise on Sumida River which ends near Sensoji Temple, the oldest and most revered temple in Tokyo. Continue to Ueno Park and visit the Tokyo National Museum, Japan’s oldest and largest museum. Visit Hakone and see iconic Mt Fuji. Enjoy a short boat cruise on peaceful Lake Ashi and ride the cable car for majestic views of Mt Fuji.

DAYS 5-6: KISO VALLEY VILLAGES & TAKAYAMA 
Hotel: Best Western Hotel Takayama 
Venture into the beautiful Kiso Valley at the southern tip of the Japanese Alps stopping en route at Tsumago and Magome. Continue passing beautiful mountain scenery to Takayama. Takayama is a bustling market town, rich in shrine and temple architecture

DAYS 7-11: KANAZAWA & HIROSHIMA 
Hotels: Kanazawa Mantin Hotel, Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima
Travel to the Shirakawago district, famous for its unique gassho-zukuri buildings, which have steeply-pitched thatched roofs designed to withstand the winter snowfall. Take an excursion to Kenrokuen Garden and visit Shima House, a preserved teahouse which has been converted into a Geisha museum or Nomura house, a samurai residence. Travel to Hiroshima and visit the Peace Memorial Museum, and see the sobering cenotaph inscribed with all the known victims of the Hiroshima bomb. In the afternoon, explore Hiroshima independently. Travel by train to Himeji and visit the 17th century Himeji Castle before continuing to Kyoto. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore Kyoto at your own pace. 

DAYS 12-14: KYOTO 
Hotel: Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo
Discover some of Kyoto’s cultural treasures. Visit one of Kyoto’s most impressive shrines – Fushimi Inari Shrine and walk through the thousands of coloured ‘torii’ which stretch along a mountain path. Sample some sake before continuing to the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji) to experience an authentic tea ceremony at the famous rock garden temple of Ryoan-ji. Spend the day exploring Kyoto independently. Choose to visit nearby Arashiyama, a popular district on the outskirts of Kyoto. Transfer by private taxi to Kyoto station for your onward journey.
