DAY 1: PHNOM PENH

Hotel: Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel (or similar)

Delve into the energy of Cambodia after arriving in Phnom Penh, and meet your fellow travellers and Tour Leader (or local guide).

DAY 2: PHNOM PENH TOUR

Hotel: Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel (or similar)

Venture through the backstreets of Phnom Penh on a fun cyclo ride to discover the city’s main attractions and Central Market. Continue to Tuol Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields memorial at Choeng Ek before returning to town for lunch. During the afternoon, explore the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, and stroll along the riverfront.

DAY 3: PHNOM PENH TO KAMPOT

Hotel: Columns Hotel (or similar)

Travel by train to riverside Kampot on Cambodia’s south coast. In Kampot, cruise on Preaek Tuek Chhu River and visit local fishing villages inhabited by the local Cham Muslim population.

DAY 4: KAMPOT TO KEP

Hotel: The Beach House (or similar)

Visit an ancient temple hidden within the caves at Phnom Chhnork before learning about one of Cambodia’s most valuable exports – Kampot pepper. Continue driving to seaside.

DAY 5: KEP & RABBIT ISLAND

Hotel: The Beach House (or similar)

Explore Kep’s busy crab market, renowned for its freshly caught seafood. Take a boat to Rabbit Island and spend time exploring the island.

DAY 6: KEP TO TAKEO

Hotel: Home-stay (or similar)

Travel north to Takeo and enjoy an exhilarating speedboat ride along a narrow canal flanked by rice paddies. Visit Phnom Da, a striking hilltop temple dating back to the 8th century. Stay overnight at a home-stay in Takeo where your local host will cook a delicious dinner.

DAY 7: TAKEO TO BATTAMBANG

Hotel: Stung Sangke Hotel (or similar)

Travel north to Battambang, Cambodia’s creative hub. Along the way, stop at a village that specialises in making clay pots which are sold throughout Cambodia. Also stop at Krakor fish markets to get a glimpse of Cambodia’s freshwater fishing industry. Arrive in Battambang in time for sunset, and choose from the many restaurants for dinner.

DAY 8: BATTAMBANG

Hotel: Stung Sangke Hotel (or similar)

Discover some spectacular sites surrounding Battambang, where

many of the temples and pagodas escaped damage during the Khmer

Rouge regime. Stop at Cambodia’s only winery before visiting an

11th century hilltop temple. Take a thrilling ride on the famous ‘norry’ or bamboo train through the countryside. Visit an ancient traditional house constructed from teakwood and at dusk, witness the unforgettable sight of millions of ‘mosquito bats’ flying out from one of the caves in search of food.

DAY 9: BATTAMBANG TO PREAH VIHEAR

Hotel: Preah Vihear Boutique Hotel (or similar)

Continue north to Banteay Chhmar, a remote temple. Enjoy a delicious lunch cooked by members of the local community-based tourism association. Continue your journey to Sra Em, gateway to Preah Vihear temple.

DAY 10: PREAH VIHEAR TO SIEM REAP

Hotel: Somadevi Angkor Hotel & Spa (or similar)

Visit Preah Vihear temple, magnificently situated on top of the Dangrek escarpment on the Thai border overlooking Cambodia’s northern plains.

Closer to Siem Reap, visit Boeng Mealea temple before enjoying an evening at leisure in town.

DAY 11: TONLE SAP LAKE

Hotel: Somadevi Angkor Hotel & Spa (or similar)

Visit Kampong Phluk floating village on Tonle Sap Lake. Take a boat ride to explore the fascinating floating village before enjoying a delicious home-cooked lunch. Journey through Cambodia’s countryside to the intricately carved and well-preserved pink sandstone temple, Banteay Srei. The detailed carvings are regarded as the finest and most skilfully crafted in the Angkor kingdom.

DAY 12: TEMPLES OF ANGKOR

Hotel: Somadevi Angkor Hotel & Spa (or similar)

Venture through the pre-dawn darkness on a tuk-tuk to Angkor Wat’s seldom-used East Gate entrance. Marvel at the silhouetted central spires and explore the temple grounds away from the crowds. After exploring the temple in depth, travel to the nearby Angkor the Thom complex for a monk blessing and a short walking tour to visit Baphuon temple and the Terrace of the Leper King. Enjoy lunch in town before continuing to jungle covered Ta Prohm temple. End the day back in Angkor Thom to see Bayon temple at dusk.

DAY 13: SIEM REAP

Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
